Green Building - An Option For You?

MORRISVILLE - Does fall in North Carolina start in December now? It appears so. With global warming now a very “hot” topic, green building is gaining attention.
What is green building? It is building with specific attention to water and energy use, materials, indoor air quality, site impact, and management in order to reduce negative impacts on inhabitants’ health and the environment. Green buildings are scored by rating systems, such as the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system.
According to USGBC, buildings in the U.S. account for 65% of electricity use, 36% of total energy use, 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, 30% of raw material use, and 30% of waste output....
