
Position Available: Full-Time Electrical Estimator
We're currently seeking a full-time Electrical Estimator to work with our fast-growing solar team. A strong commitment to sustainable energy and dedication to the vision of SEM is a must. The position is an integral part of the photovoltaic electrical construction team, responsible for optimizing project scopes to ensure competitiveness, profitability and growth. The ideal candidate will have an electrical construction background, and will be a self-starter with a focus and commitment to ensuring a high standard of excellence.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for working with subcontractors and suppliers during the bid process in order to obtain complete bid package information.
- Work with client to review proposal specifications, drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into labor-unit figures.
- Plan, direct and coordinate activities of estimating support team.
- Evaluate and implement estimating software purchase.
- Coordinate electrical database pricing and labor units.
- Evaluate and review all levels of electrical estimates.
- Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years as an Estimator in electrical construction.
- Familiarity with both commercial and industrial projects.
- Experience with electrical drawings and applying the take off process.
- Must have ability to work fluently with electrical estimating software.
- Familiar with and understand commercial electrical codes.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be willing to travel out of the local area at least 10% of the time.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills for working with both the internal team and clients.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in related field.
- Electrical power systems design.
- Design experience using AutoCAD.
- NC General Contractor’s license
- Ability to calculate loads in accordance with N.E.C.
- Experience in plumbing estimating/design.
