Energy Efficiency for Government and Military Properties

A recent mandate by the US Army Corps of Engineers requires all new and retrofitted conditioned military buildings to meet specific standards for air tightness. Our building science experts and engineers have decades of experience researching, analyzing and testing the performance of small and large buildings so you not only comply with regulations, but also get the best performance and comfort possible in your facilities.

Air Barrier Testing

  • Identifies areas of air infiltration and leakage through the building envelope using a series of calibrated fans called blower doors
  • Provides a verifiable measure and benchmark of your facilities' performance
  • Air barrier tests conform to USACE, ASTM E 1827 (2002), ASTM E 779 (2003) protocols and requirements

Thermographic Building Inspection

  • Provides infrared photographic documentation of your facilities' insulation integrity
  • Identifies areas of missing insulation in the building envelope and thermal bridging

Design Reviews & Pre-Testing Inspections

  • Ensures possible problem areas are addressed prior to construction and performance testing
  • Prevents critical sequencing and installation issues that could affect performance testing results
  • Ensures air and thermal barriers are installed properly

Energy Audits

Energy audits for your town or military base's facilities will identify low/no cost energy conservation measures and the feasibility of renewable energy systems into the site. Our team will review moisture management and indoor environmental air quality along with the facility's insulation and HVAC equipment. If your municipality was specifically earmarked for stimulus money, you may be able to incorporate these energy efficiency upgrades through use of the grant money. Others may receive stimulus money by applying to the your state energy office. We can help walk you through the process and select the technologies that are appropriate for your specific goals.
